For SMB Wolfpack, game against Minneapolis North will be a reunion of former teammates

The SMB Wolfpack versus Minneapolis North game is approaching, and there are many thrilling player dynamics to look out for. While this matchup appears as just a regular game on the schedule, it holds significantly more value to the players on both rosters who have relationships with one another that go back to elementary school and youth sports.

SMB junior defensive end Peyton Rogers is most looking forward to competing against close friend Zashon Rich, a junior wide receiver and defensive back.

“It’s my first time playing against [Zashon] since third grade,” Rogers said. “I’m just excited to see how much better he’s gotten.”

SMB senior wide receiver Mykelti Dillard Smith is also getting ready to face off against long time friend AuVon Sager. Sager, also a senior, has already cemented his Minneapolis North legacy, having received a division three college offer to play defensive end at St. John’s University.

“I’ve known him since I was in fifth grade,” Dillard Smith said, even surprising himself as he counted the years.

As this exhilarating matchup looms closer, it’s safe to say that both teams will show up with an even greater competitive edge than usual.
