As we prepare for another exciting Friday under the lights, we have asked Minnesota high school students to preview one of the week’s key matchups.
Deodatus Gbadoe
Fridley
The Fridley High School Tigers come into the matchup with St. Paul Johnson looking to secure another statement win. The Fridley Football Team has faced adversity every season and this one is no different. An early season loss served as a reminder of the adversity this team will face going forward. This loss, however, ignited a fire in the team like no other. “What are we playing for? Who are we playing for?” The words of Fridley’s Head Coach Justin Reese resonated with the players after the early season loss.
That is what the team needed. Purpose. The team captains stepped up when the team needed them the most. QB MJ Newton and LB Kerome Thompson kept the team united and set the tone in the following week’s practice. The energy of the team was different. MJ Newton and Kerome Thompson set their goals for the rest of the season and the team found their purpose. Fridley High School Football is about playing for each other. This is how Fridley faces adversity. Showing out for each other in every game they play. Fridley High School will be coming into the game with St. Paul Johnson in solidarity with one another and ready to get this win.
