Andover High School’s football team is blazing a winning streak, which continued when they faced off against Elk River in an evenly-matched home game on Friday, Sept. 22.
Elk River entered the field after a victory over the Saints last week, and Andover was riding on a wave of triumph from last week’s 42-21 win over Cambridge-Insanti.
The faceoff with Elk River on the 22nd started rough for the Huskies, with the Elks scoring first and racking up more points in the first half. The teams were tied 21-21 in the first quarter, only for Elk River to gain a lead in the second quarter, putting up 18 more points.
The Huskies tipped the scales in the third quarter, taking the upper hand with a tally of 6-3. The game was tight in the final and fourth quarter, with both teams pushing to take home a win. The score closed out with the Huskies on top scoring 23 points, summing up the final score of 63-56. Even with the close game that had both teams putting up their best fight, Andover High School pulled through in the end, earning them a ticket to the finals.
